Day 12 - Mondo Oowada

[Sometime before the trial, Fukawa invites Mondo to her cabin for a private conversation. She's not sure what to expect...or what to even say. But, he's the last Hope Peak student alongside her. They need to stick together if they plan to get out. She has no clue how he's even...well alive, but she has to trust that there may even be a way to save him.]

Oowada-san...I need to ask you something important. B...Before anything else...

[With Maizono gone, that leaves only Fukawa and Mondo himself. To say he's a bit on edge would be an understatement. It seems like every time he gets close to someone, they die in this game. He was almost tempted to decline Fukawa's invitation just to try to distance himself from her, but there's no point in trying to alienate her in the hopes that she won't be killed. He's being paranoid, he can recognize that.]

Yeah? Shoot.

D...Do you trust me? I-I know we don't know each other well, but...but I need to know.

...Yeah, I do. You're right, we don't know each other very well, but I know you better than I know anyone else out there. And... if you are a hunter, I don't think you'd enjoy it.

[Syo probably would, but not Fukawa.]

[She smiles a little.]

Thank you. I-I trust you too Oowada-san.

[She sighs deeply, trying not to seem too unnerved. This entire game has put her on edge and she hates it.]

You've been seeing all the stuff right? Th-The pages all around in different places. Wh-What do you think about it?

Ah, yeah, I've seen a few of 'em around. I'm not really sure what to make of it. Sounds like this game's been played at least once before and it's got something to do with that girl. Ah, but you're the literary expert, what do you think about it?

[She folds her hands and thinks.]

I-I've been taking notes. The pages are all dated...it seems like they begin March 20th and end on April 19th, a month later. E-Every page grows increasingly despairing with the next day. Ab-Abigail...she watched a lot of terrible things happen. An-And I think...her diary pages are a warning to us. Not to hunt our friends or to betray each other.

Yeah? I guess it would've helped to know that in the beginning... So what do you think we should do?

I...I think we should stop worrying about the "game". Th-That is, we refuse to play Critter's murder game. In-Instead, we should try and figure out how these clues can help us...a way to connect everything together and maybe it can tell us a way to escape.

[diamondo]

Ah, yeah, that would be great! If we could all get outta here alive...! Or well, the rest of us. You know what I meant.

[...She clears her throat, looking a little embarrassed at just doing that.]

Ah...besides that...did Maizono-san say something to you about her role? Th-The Defender, that is...
